Myself and Lee decided to head over from London for a few days to Sweden where some friends were working. The first part of the trip was to meet everyone up in Gothenburg for the Sweden v England game. We met up in Harry's bar with Rob Atherton, Brian Skinner, Eric Mensah, Anna Persson, Brett, Paul Evans and a few thousand England fans. A good vibe apart from the Mackem England contingent, probably the only time they can go on tour in Europe.
We then headed over to the match in the Ullevi stadium but as usual with England it was a poor performance and again a loss against Sweden. We were in the Swedish end but being a friendly there was no hassle and at least a good end of match fireworks display to music which the Swedes stayed for. Strange thing to have at a football match for us but, whatever not bad. Time to head back downtown and some nightlife.
Next day we bid farewell to the Karlskrona contingent although we'd see them in 2 days time. Myself and Lee got back into the car and started the 6 hour drive to Stockholm to meet up with another bunch of lads we used to work with now working at Tele2. Got to the office in Kista before they left and as you can see they were hard at work! Buzz and Moss in the total contractor pose.
Someone had booked a table down at OsterKeller on Sodermalm so we headed down there for Austrian beer and Schweinshaxe! Very Swedish. Joining us that night were Buzz, Moss, Jan Buckley, Dave Bowers, Niall, Colin Nelson and Rob Morgan. Its a great place and right next to Soldaten Svejk (the Czech bar) but you have to order the Haxe a few days before.
Good food and a good craic later we headed to a funky bar nearby which had a vampire feel to it. Needless to say the beers were flowing by now and we decided to head over to Kungsholmen but somehow me, Rob and Dave got separated. I think because they knew this better bar but in the end it wasn't, they were really drunk and got kicked out after - amongst other things - tried to chat up this ballerina.
I didn't drink too much the night before and good job as Lee was in no state to drive the 5 hours down to Karlskrona our next stop. I think he slept most of the way but no matter its a nice drive with lots of lakes, pine trees and more pine trees! Got down to Karlskrona on the Friday night and met up with everyone in O'learys. Some people I'd not seen for ages including Merfyn Jones, Donald Miller and Richie Morse and others for the first time (Ali Mahdavi, Tor-Vidar Fosser)
I quick trip to Niva and then onto Piraten which is owned by the Humlan who owns O'learys. Its a bit of a dive nightclub but everyone usually ends up there.
At this point the camera was getting shaky and the photography taken over by Ali who decided on an arse competition from those on show in the nightclub. You be the judge! Of course Donald was his usual tarty self in the middle of it all, he loves it really.
These last three photos are from the Saturday and as you can see the place was bare. A lot of casualties that day including Lee and Rob who left early from the Statt bar which was a good job as I was toasted on the Saturday night after a late one with Richie and could not have driven. Quality but, next day a long drive back to Gothenburg which thankfully Lee took care of.
